A Holiday Note from the Farm

Middleburg Christmas Parade

Dear friends,

As we near the close of the year, I wanted to send one last note from the farm before Christmas.

If you’re celebrating, I wish you a very Merry Christmas, one filled with warmth, good food, and moments of rest. And if this season looks different for you, I hope these final days of December bring a little quiet and a little light.

Life on the farm has settled into its winter rhythm. The days are shorter, the ground is resting, and there’s a softness to everything right now.

wild turkeys

We recently had a small flock of wild turkeys wander through the fields—an unexpected and beautiful reminder that even in winter, there’s still so much life moving through this place.

tulip bulbs

Before the frost fully set in, I tucked hundreds of tulip bulbs into the soil. They’re resting now, out of sight, but already full of promise. Spring always feels far away this time of year, but it’s coming.

If you’re still looking for a meaningful last-minute gift, we do have Bear Meadows gift certificates available, starting at $20. They can be used toward bouquets, subscriptions, or future offerings, and are delivered directly to the recipient’s email inbox, perfect for last-minute gifting.

Thank you, truly, for being here, whether you’ve visited the farm, brought flowers home, shared kind words, or simply followed along. Your support is what makes this small, seasonal work possible.

Wishing you a peaceful holiday season and a hopeful start to the new year. I’ll be back in your inbox soon as we begin planning for another year of flowers.

With gratitude and muddy boots,
Kaz Smith
